Scandium chloride (also known as scandium trichloride) is a chemical compound with the formula ScCl3. It is a white solid material with a tetragonal crystal structure and is a highly reactive compound. Scandium chloride is used as a material for making phosphors for use in cathode ray tubes and fluorescent lamps, as a catalyst, and as a component of high-strength aluminum alloys.

Scandium Chloride is applied in optical coating, catalyst, electronic ceramics and laser industry, are also excellent precursors for production of ultra high purity compounds, catalysts, and nanoscale materials. The main application of Scandium by weight is in Scandium-Aluminium alloys for minor aerospace industry components. Dentists use Erbium, Chromium: Yttrium-Scandium-Gallium Garnet (Er,Cr:YSGG) lasers for cavity preparation and in endodontics.
